THE BRUNEI DARUSSALAM MARITIME MUSEUM
The Maritime Museum is located in Kota Batu, and represents the historical repository of maritime which include artifacts and craftsmanship during various era. This museum was constructed under the 10thNational development plan with a budget of BND 5 million on a 3.53 hectares (8.74 acres) of land.
The concept of the maritime museum building is a front view of a ship which reflect the involvement of Brunei Darussalam as one of the trade center in the past.
The maritime museum has 2 galleries:
1. BRUNEI'S SHIPWRECK
This gallery features the discovery of Brunei's shipwreck in 1997. This discovery is an important finding in the history of Brunei's maritime because it shows the role of Brunei in maritime trade with other countries in the late 15thcentury to the early 16thcentury.
2. BRUNEI MARITIME GOLDEN AGE GALLERY
3. ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE SITES GALLERY
" To safeguard the history of Brunei's maritime through artifacts that represents the role of Brunei as a center of trade and settlement"
